FMCSA / CDL EDUCATION PATHWAY

DOT SAP Education for FMCSA-Regulated CDL Drivers

Commercial drivers and other employees whose safety-sensitive driving functions are regulated by FMCSA. Education is designed to support a DOT-qualified SAP's individualized recommendation—not replace it.

INDUSTRY-SPECIFIC CONTEXT

Education connected to the work behind the regulation.

The FMCSA pathway places the shared curriculum in a commercial-driving context while preserving the same learning, completion, and review standards used throughout Beyond the Violation.

What this program does—and does not do

  • The SAP—not the website—selects the appropriate education and/or treatment recommendation.
  • Course completion is documented and reviewed before a certificate is released.
  • Completion does not itself authorize a return to safety-sensitive driving.

Select only the duration your SAP recommended.

All three options use the same secure purchase, protected access, submission, and review process.

COMMON QUESTIONS

About the FMCSA / CDL pathway

Is this course only for truck drivers?

This page is tailored to FMCSA-regulated commercial drivers, but Beyond the Violation also serves FAA, FRA, FTA, PHMSA, and applicable USCG referrals through separate industry pages.

Who determines whether a 4-, 8-, or 12-hour course is appropriate?

The DOT-qualified Substance Abuse Professional makes the individualized education and/or treatment recommendation. Participants should select the duration their SAP recommends.
